Career Fitness Tip: The Anatomy of a Resume
by Malcolm O. Munro

Malcolm Munro, the “Career Fitness Coach” is a speaker, consultant and coach .  He is the author of Marketing Yourself for Your Dream Job: How to Get the Job and Career You’ve Always Wanted.

You can find his website at jobhunthelpnow.com

His video series is well worth watching.  This one, in particular, speaks to the topic of what makes up a Resume.

While the production quality on this video is not the best - and, Malcolm exhibits his humanity at the very beginning, the content of the video is important to understanding the nature of a resume.

You should definitely pay attention to this video as you start your Resume writing process.

Tips to Remember:

  • Name and contact information at the very top.
  • Some people are excluding their addresses for privacy concerns - but, make sure you include at least an email address and phone where you can be reached.
  • Tailor the resume to the position to make it easier for an HR Screener to identify the position for which you're applying.
  • Keep the reader's interest starting at the top.
  • A good tailored resume will take at least a couple hours.
  • Make sure your resume details how you match up with the requirements of the Job position
