Editing:
In addition to making sure your resume has the right words and that they are spelled correctly, you need to make sure the resume actually says what you mean it to say. And, it has to get your "marketing" message across effectively.
First Step in Editing your Resume for its MESSAGE:
Here's a list of questions you should ask yourself when you evaluate your draft resume:
- If you were the hiring manager, would you interview or ultimately hire you?

- When you first look at the resume, does it get your attention and is it something you want to read? Or, is it just a blur of words that makes your eyes glaze over just looking at it?
- Is there enough white space surrounding the text so that it "looks" good?
- Can you tell from a glance who you are and what you would bring to the prospective employer?
- Can you tell in the first 15 - 20 seconds that you are the right candidate for the position?
If you cannot respond POSITIVELY to each of these questions, you need to do some serious editing.
